The real secret to success

Red Mountain Trail- Flagstaff, AZ

Where has summer gone?! For those in the Midwest, you’re still enjoying the beautiful days, but here in AZ, we’re back to school shopping, pre-starting our cars in the 120 degree weather, and looking forward to the pumpkin patches and cooler temps that aren’t too far off… The Kociemba family did escape to Flagstaff for a cool 4th of July, so enjoy the pictures from our hikes!

But, what’s new? Well, you may have noticed this email came from a new email because… (drumroll please…) Wholee Healthy has a new name: Empower Her Health Coaching!

Why the change? Well, (aside from the fact that my company name was often called “Whole” Healthy accidentally and people mistook it for some kind of meditative, ancient Chinese medicine type of holistic health) I felt for some time now that the name did not truly match the work I do as a health coach.

While I still believe holistic health (big picture, whole life type of holistic) is of utmost importance in our health journey, I felt that empowering clients to take health into their own hands and confidently navigate their future was much more in line with the mission of my coaching practice.

The new logo is in the form of a compass because it symbolizes the fact that health is a lifelong journey that we are constantly needing to navigate as it brings us new challenges. As a whole, Empower Her is the action I hope to take constantly as a coach, whether it be 1:1, on social media, or simply through this newsletter. In a nutshell, I feel it is much more aligned with me, my practice, and hopefully helps others see my business more clearly for what it is!

Onto the meat of today’s content: The Real Secret to Success

Why is this important? Because, I know that many of us spend way too much time wishing for things that are entirely unrealistic for our current circumstances. And I know that many of us also spend way too much time telling ourselves that we will never be able to achieve certain things. And I’d love to unpack why both of these mindsets are a giant waste of time!

This is for the moms that just had babies wishing for the 6 pack by baby’s first birthday, the retirees who have chronic pain or joint issues wishing for a less puffy exterior tomorrow, the person working 2 jobs in an exhausted state wanting to start their own successful business right now, or the working mom or dad who doesn’t workout or cook and wishes they could go to the gym daily and cook a healthy, homemade dinner every night… yesterday. Basically, it is for everyone to some degree!

Do you ever find yourself comparing yourself to the person who already has what you wish for: to the mom walking through the mall with Lululemon gear on, chatting on her phone with a six pack? Maybe the old high school classmate who’s stayed trim into their late 70s? The friend who successfully launched a business and was able to quit her day job? The parents who seem like a power couple with great physiques and well managed time?

Oftentimes, we compare… or we write off others’ success as them being lucky, having “good genes”, always having had money, or being more socially inclined than you.

But, let’s peel back the layers a little bit here first. Instead of being intimidated by these individuals for one specific reason, being jealous of them, or putting them on a pedestal, instead let’s examine the process that got them to where they are.

Don’t think you’re going to get off so easily as to simply say that every successful person got there by luck or genes. How did they get there then? By giving it time and building a life that is full of systems and habits that support their success. And by continuing to try even when they make mistakes or have setbacks. So, what does this mean for us?

The answer is the real secret to success: 1) time and 2) consistency.

This means, we stop wishing for a 6 pack when we just had a baby (or have multiple babies already with zero signs of abs). Maybe instead, we work gradually towards a healthy weight with a regular exercise routine and a diet full of energy-bringing nutrients… In a few years of consistently doing this, our physique will be much closer to what we used to wish for!

It means we stop wishing we were a “naturally trim” 70 year old-immediately when we’re dealing with chronic pain, and start working on daily rehab, other exercises we’re capable of, and a nutrient dense diet. In a few years of doing this consistently? That physique will come as we heal, are active, and fuel ourselves properly.

It means we stop wishing for a successful business overnight and start working towards success by carving out an hour each evening after our day job to gradually work towards our business. A few years of consistent work will get us there!

It means we stop wishing we had time for the gym and cooking daily when every minute in our day is already accounted for and start working for better health by consistently taking the stairs, having walking meetings, doing exercises in our office between meetings, and packing our own lunch, ordering a meal service, or finding healthier frozen options instead of eating out every day.

In all of these circumstances, we aren’t going to achieve anything overnight. But, you know what we’ll achieve in a few years of consistent work? Health. Success. An improved quality of life.

You know how we’ll achieve it? Consistency and time.

It isn’t the attractive, flashy kind of success we wish we could have right this second. It’s the kind of success that we will be able to sustain because we’ll put in the work each and every day to create habits that will make us into the kind of people that are able to sustain the success we achieve.

So? We stop wishing. We start working. We match our realities, our systems, and our habits with the lifestyles we want to lead, but also with the eventual success we want to have.

It might take awhile to get there. But, if we work for it consistently? We’ll not only achieve it, but we’ll also be able to sustain the achievement long-term!

I hope this was helpful for you to read through, and I hope you feel empowered to start making small, gradual, consistent changes in your own life that will add up over time to the lifestyle you need to create in order to achieve and sustain your goals!

The Eternal One will never leave you;
    He will lead you in the way that you should go.
When you feel dried up and worthless,
    God will nourish you and give you strength.
And you will grow like a garden lovingly tended;
    you will be like a spring whose water never runs out.
